How we handle your info and keep things secure

Look, we get it - nobody really likes reading these things. But we're a small shop that actually cares about your privacy, so we've tried to keep this straightforward and honest about what we do with your info when you bring your ride to us.

When you come to us for work on your European import, we're gonna need some basics to do our job right:

  • Personal stuff: Your name, phone number, email, and mailing address. Pretty standard - we need to know who you are and how to reach you when your BMW's ready.
  • Vehicle details: VIN, make, model, year, mileage - all the technical bits we need to pull up service histories and order the right parts.
  • Service records: What we've done to your car, parts we've installed, diagnostic results. This helps us track patterns and catch issues before they become expensive problems.
  • Payment info: Credit card or banking details for transactions, though we don't store full card numbers on our systems.
  • Communication history: Emails, text messages, or calls about your service appointments and quotes.

We're not out here collecting stuff we don't need. If we ask for something, it's because it helps us fix your car better.

We're not selling your data to sketchy third parties or anything like that. Here's what we actually do with it:

  • Service your vehicle: Obviously, right? Can't fix your Porsche without knowing what's wrong with it.
  • Keep you updated: Appointment reminders, service updates, "hey your car's done" texts - that kind of thing.
  • Warranty tracking: Making sure parts and labor are covered if something goes sideways.
  • Maintenance reminders: We might shoot you a message when it's time for your next oil change or brake check. You can opt out of these anytime.
  • Improve our services: Looking at what issues come up most often so we can stock the right parts and train our techs better.
  • Legal compliance: Sometimes we gotta keep records for tax purposes or if there's a manufacturer recall.

Bottom line? We use your info to do good work on your car and maybe save you from breakdowns down the road.

We're pretty protective of your info, but there are a few situations where we need to share it:

  • Parts suppliers: When we order that specific sensor for your Audi, the supplier needs your VIN to make sure it's the right part.
  • Payment processors: Your credit card company, obviously, when you're paying for services.
  • Specialized technicians: Sometimes we bring in a specialist for tricky jobs - they'll need access to your service records.
  • Insurance companies: If you're filing a claim and ask us to work with your insurer.
  • Legal requirements: If a court orders it or there's a safety recall, we've gotta comply.

We don't sell or rent your personal information to marketers. That's not how we roll.

Security's important to us. We're not some huge corporation with unlimited IT resources, but we take reasonable precautions:

  • Encrypted storage: Customer data is stored with industry-standard encryption.
  • Limited access: Only staff who need your info to do their jobs can see it. The guy changing your oil doesn't have access to payment details.
  • Secure payment processing: We use PCI-compliant payment systems - we never see or store your full credit card numbers.
  • Regular backups: Your service history's backed up so it doesn't disappear if a computer crashes.
  • Physical security: Paper records are locked up, and our shop's got security cameras.

Nothing's 100% foolproof, but we do our best to keep your info locked down tight.

We don't hold onto your data forever, but we can't delete it immediately either:

  • Active customers: As long as you're bringing your car to us, we keep your records current.
  • Service history: We typically keep this for 7 years after your last visit - helps with warranty issues and if you come back years later wondering what we did.
  • Financial records: Tax laws mean we gotta keep transaction records for at least 7 years.
  • Legal holds: If there's an ongoing dispute or investigation, we're required to preserve relevant info.

After that? We securely delete or destroy records we don't legally need to keep anymore.

It's your data, and you've got some control over it:

  • Access: You can ask to see what info we've got on file for you anytime.
  • Corrections: If something's wrong (like an outdated phone number), just let us know and we'll fix it.
  • Marketing opt-out: Don't wanna get our maintenance reminder emails? No problem - just tell us or click unsubscribe.
  • Data portability: Want a copy of your service records to take to another shop? We'll provide that.
  • Deletion requests: You can ask us to delete your info, though we might need to keep some stuff for legal reasons (like warranty claims or tax records).

Just give us a call at (604) 555-7829 or email service@jandralethrealm.info if you wanna exercise any of these rights.

Our website uses some basic cookies - nothing creepy, just practical stuff:

  • Essential cookies: These keep the site functioning, like remembering items in your quote request.
  • Analytics: We use basic analytics to see what pages people visit so we can improve the site. It's anonymized data.
  • Contact forms: When you fill out our online forms, we temporarily store that info to process your request.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site might not work as smoothly.

Our services are for adults who own vehicles. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you're a parent and think your kid gave us their info somehow, let us know and we'll delete it ASAP.

Look, sometimes we gotta update this stuff - maybe laws change, or we add new services. When we make significant changes, we'll:

  • Update the "Last Updated" date at the top
  • Send you an email if you're an active customer
  • Post a notice on our website for at least 30 days

Keep checking back here once in a while, or just read the email we send you.
